The good news is: According to Punxsutawney Phil and Wisconsin's own Sun Prairie Jimmy, spring's coming early. However, today was brutal. I went out for a ski at Tower Ridge early, and it didn't take long for me to consider it a mistake. At 9 a.m. it was barely above zero with a 10 mph wind out of the northwest that was biting when you were going into it. It was nice and sunny, but that didn't do much to warm things up. To make matters worse, the snow was so cold, I was getting no glide. Eventually, I got so frustrated I decided to just do some hills, since I don't expect to glide when I'm going up anyway.
By the time I walked to class in the afternoon, it had maybe warmed slightly, but the wind chill had to have remained below zero. The wind had switched around to the west and seemed to have picked up speed a bit, maybe gusting to 15 or so.
As for tomorrow, I'll call it sunny if for no other reason than the big storm to our south has moved farther east. And it has to be warmer than this, right. I mean, we are in for an early spring according to several rodents.
